Licensing System Details

Overview
AWE Designer uses an online, account-based licensing system. This system gives developers the flexibility to use AWE Designer on multiple machines and allows features to be enabled over time.
To allow temporary offline-usage when internet access is not available, AWE Designer also has a built-in grace-period where it can operate for several days without an internet connection.
In the case where internet is not available for extended periods, or a firewall cannot be modified to allow online access, then node-locked offline-licenses are available to support fully offline access.

License Administration
When seats of AWE Designer are purchased, they are granted to a designated account on DSPConcepts.com. This account-holder serves as the License Administrator for the licenses, assigning them to individual developers' accounts. (The License Administrator may also be a developer and assign themselves a license.)

Licenses may be reassigned at any time. To assign a license, the License Administrator should do the following:
1.)Log into their DSPC account

2.)Scroll down to the License Administration section

3.)Add email address of the assignee's DSPConcepts.com account
4.)Click the [ Update ] button at the bottom of the page.

Assigned Licenses
Developers can see all licenses assigned to them in the "Assigned Licenses" section of the My Account page:

Firewall Whitelisting
Each time Designer runs, it contacts the DSP Concepts Licensing Server to verify licensing status. For some users, this may require your IT department to add a firewall exception.
Please add or request the following be added to your firewall's whitelist:
1.)*.dspconcepts.com
2.)Port 80
3.)Port 443

Offline Licensing
To support temporary offline use, there is a short grace-period where Designer can operate without contacting the licensing server.

For the rare exceptions when internet access is unavailable for long periods or firewall settings cannot be changed, permanent offline access is available using a node-locked license.

If not able to connect to the DSP concepts license server, either because the user is offline or if a corporate firewall is blocking access, the following message box will appear:

Clicking 'Request Offline License' will bring up the following message box:

This message box tells you the information you must provide to DSPC to request an offline license: Machine ID, and account email. Send your Machine ID and your account email to licensing@espconcepts.com When you receive your license key by email to your DSPC account you can start AWE Designer again and now you can enter the license key into the window above. Then AWE Designer will work normally for you.
